COVID-19 origins: what the record establishes
A lab-associated incident is a plausible hypothesis supported by some U.S. agencies; zoonotic spillover is supported by many scientists and other agencies. No publicly available evidence has conclusively established either pathway.

It is inaccurate to state as settled fact that COVID-19 was lab-made. U.S. intelligence assessments have been divided, confidence levels have generally been low, and the intelligence community has said SARS-CoV-2 was probably not genetically engineered.
